    ABX 2016

    Roger Williams University invites you to attend a reception at the ArchitectureBoston Expo (ABX). Enjoy an evening of food, conversation, and the opportunity to gather with colleagues, faculty and classmates. Renew professional ties and make new connections in the design/build community.

    This year we are giving a shout out to 2016 AIA New England Award Winners who have a connection to RWU as Faculty, Teaching Firms in Residence and Alumni. 19 of the 41 awards includes people connected with Roger Williams. 

    This year our reception is being sponsored  by Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance. In 2015 a Sustainable Practice Partnership was established between Tremco, RWU and AIA Rhode Island for Fall, Spring and Summer events and conferences, an annual Scholarship Program competition, and annual Internship Program.

    Great Film Series - The Conversation

    The Conversation,  Directed by Francis Ford Coppola (1976, 117 min). Surveillance expert Harry Caul (Gene Hackman) is hired by a mysterious client's brusque aide (Harrison Ford) to tail a young couple (Frederic Forrest and Cindy Williams) in San Francisco.  A brilliant, timely film about privacy rights, the public and private sectors, and the role technology plays in our daily lives.

Young Salvatore Di Vita (Salvatore Cascio) discovers the perfect escape from life in his war-torn Sicilian village: the Cinema Paradiso movie house, where projectionist Alfredo (Philippe Noiret) instills in the boy a deep love of films. When Salvatore grows up, falls in love with a beautiful local girl (Agnese Nano) and takes over as the Paradiso's projectionist, Alfredo must convince him to leave his small town and pursue his passion for filmmaking.

    Mind Over Manners: Student Etiquette Dinner

    An annual tradition, the Alumni Association is excited to bring back Mind Over Manners (formally Career Dinner Conversations) to offer alumni the chance to engage with students who have questions about the workforce, interviewing, and applying for jobs. Each year over 60 alumni are invited to co-host tables of students who share an interest in specific professional and industry areas. Students will enjoy a three-course dinner expertly prepared by Bon Appetite as they gain important tips on how to navigate business and professional networking while sharing a meal.

    Great Film Series: Vertigo

    Vertigo, Directed by Alfred Hitchcock (1958, 129 min). Hitchcock's romantic story of obsession, manipulation and fear. A detective is forced to retire after his fear of heights causes the death of a fellow officer and the girl he was hired to follow. He sees a double of the girl, which causes him to transform her image onto the dead girl's body, and leads to a cycle of madness and lies.  Starring Kim Novak and James Stewart.
